C'mon it's from Maine, mon! In Jamaica they drink a lot of Guinness Foreign Export. Its the stronger, bottled version of Guinness. In fact, Jamaicans drink so much of it, Guinness brews the stuff on the island for local consumption. My guess is that this is a beer dedicated to that style and hopefully to some warmer weather coming our way soon.
Pours a dark ruby amber color with a big fluffy head that sticks around for quite awhile. Smells very nice. Kind of like caramel, brown bread, a little bit hoppy and sweet. This is a good looking beer in the glass, its clean and the red accents in the light make it very inviting.
Tastes sweet and definitely has that bite of a stronger style of stout. This is probably the beer I've enjoyed the most from Stone Coast. Although, I did their brewery tour last summer and it was pretty cool. Lots of free beer! But thats a different story. Back to the beer. This beer has a really smooth finish for a higher ABV and comes complete with that nice stomach warming quality. Overall, this is a stout that is very enjoyable, I wish I had some jerk chicken to enjoy it with!
It took me a long time to grab this out of the cooler, I've been sort of dismayed by the idea of this beer but I am glad I finally broke down and bought a bomber. Its a nice pint and I'll definitely be getting it again.
To all those who've been scared off as well, give it a shot.
